The painted car body of the first of 11 Flirt inter-city electric multiple-units that Stadler is supplying for Hungarian-Austrian cross-border railway GySEV was unveiled in a ceremony at manufacturer’s Szolnok plant on November 21.

The Australasian Railway Association has launched its Strategic Plan 2025-30, outlining its vision for a thriving and sustainable rail industry in Australia and New Zealand. There are four strategic pillars to the plan: advocate for rail; build industry capability; enhance industry productivity; and elevate the rail workforce.

On November 26 Mobico Group, parent company of National Express, reported that its German rail revenue in Q3 to September 30 2025 was up 14·3% on Q3 2024 thanks to a reduction in penalties resulting from actions taken throughout the year to improve operational performance. It said uncertainty continues around government funding related to the Deutschlandticket fixed-price monthly travel ticket and cost recovery, and intensive discussions with five public transport authorities had taken place over the past few weeks with all parties seeking to reach an agreement.

Tobias Bauer Siemens Mobility

Tobias Bauer has been named President & CEO of Siemens Mobility North America from December 1. He joined Siemens in 2004, and has held leadership roles across Europe, India and North America including as Acting CEO of Siemens Mobility North America since July 2025 and President of the North American Rolling Stock division since January 2025, a role he will retain.

Berlin-based public transport IT specialist IVU Traffic Technologies has appointed Petra Meiser as CFO and executive board member from April 1 2026.

Air Europa and Trenitalia have successfully completed a proof-of-concept covering co-operation in ticket distribution, payment and loyalty schemes, with a customer-facing launch planned for 2026. The SkyTeam airline alliance is exploring wider adoption with additional member airlines. Vietnam Airlines and Eurostar are conducting a similar trial, with technical integration expected to be completed in Q1 2026.

The UK and Vietnam have announced a partnership to drive ‘digital transformation’ across Vietnam’s railways. The UK will support Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction in delivering high-tech and sustainable rail networks, drawing on London’s Elizabeth Line project. The agreement builds on long-term relationships between Crossrail International consultancy business and the urban rail authorities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and aims to give UK consulting, engineering and finance firms a platform in one of Asia’s fastest-growing markets.

FS Group has signed an agreement aiming to provide over 50 000 employees with Microsoft’s 365 Copilot productivity tools.
