RUSSIA: Fertiliser and chemical transport company Acron-Trans is taking delivery of 400 mineral fertiliser hopper wagons ordered from United Wagon Co's leasing business Rail1520 under a three-year lease.

The wagons are being built by United Wagon Co's Tikhvin Railway Car Building Plant for delivery by January 2014. They are fitted with 23·5 tonne axleload Barber bogies and are designed for scheduled repair intervals of up to 500 000 km

'It is very important for us to maintain a production plan and timely supplies to Acron Group's factories and our customers', said Victor Ivanov, CEO of Acron-Trans. 'For this reason we decided to expand our fleet with new generation cars with advanced technical and economic parameters. Our business finds the opportunities extremely attractive, including decreased life cycle costs, increased car load capacity and reduced transport expenses due to the empty mileage discount of up to 7% approved by the Federal Tariff Service.'
