USA: Autonomous self-propelled wagon company Intramotev has announced a commercial agreement for its TugVolt battery-powered vehicles to be used for industrial shunting operations on RJ Corman Railroad Co’s Memphis Line.

’We strive to be the best service provider to our customers by continuously improving rail operations to be as safe and efficient as possible. Deploying Intramotev’s TugVolt railcars is a direct investment in that commitment’, said RJ Corman President & CEO Justin Broyles on March 30. ‘We are looking forward to putting their technology to work.’

Intramotev currently has active TugVolt deployments with limestone quarrying company Carmeuse Americas on the Bush Bay rail line at Cedarville in Michigan, and with short line group Watco at Wood River, Illinois.

‘RJ Corman is one of the most respected operators in the rail industry, and we’re honoured to work alongside them’, said Intramotev CEO Tim Luchini. ‘When it comes to proving that autonomous rail is ready for commercial deployment, there’s no better validation than a partner who has spent over 50 years moving American industry.’
