MALAYSIA: Kuala Lumpur transport operator Prasarana has awarded Indra a €28m contract to design and build an integrated control centre covering the city's monorail, Ampang metro and Kelana Jaya automated light metro lines. Completion is envisaged within 48 months.

Combing operational planning, signalling and real-time service monitoring activities within once facility is expected to improve efficiency and provide passengers with a better quality of service.

The control centre will have 22 operator positions and a video wall with real-time displays. There will be decision-making support tools to assist staff, and a 'statistical scorecard' providing service quality indicators to help controllers tailor services to demand. The centre will be linked to the lines' Tetra and GSM-R communication networks and SCADA systems.

There will be provision for future expansion to control the Klang Valley MRT line and KTM Komuter rail services.
