IRAN: Construction of a 175 km line from Mianeh north to Ardabil was completed at the end of 2025, connecting Ardabil province to the national rail network.
The route passes through mountainous terrain, with 62 tunnels and 29 large bridges. Construction was undertaken solely using domestic resources and engineering capabilities by companies including Iran Oston Consulting Engineers and General Mechanic Co.

The line is to be extended further towards Parsabad on the border with the neighbouring country of Azerbaijan. It is intended to form part of the developing North-South International Transport Corridor multi-modal route between Russia, the Caucasus, Iranian ports and India.
