It covers 0·9 km of elevated metro track with one elevated station provisionally designated Y1, and 3·5 km of twin-bore tunnel with three underground stations designated Y2, Y3 and Y4, the latter at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital.

It is the second rail project in Taiwan to be undertaken by the joint venture of Malaysia’s Gamuda and local partner AWEC, following the 3·7 km Taoyuan City underground commuter railway package CJ18 awarded in October 2022.
