RUSSIA: St Petersburg tram operator Gorelektrotrans put two modernised LM-68M3 trams into service on March 26. The single-section trams run permanently coupled on Route 6.

The trams were modernised by Transmashholding’s Oktyabrsky Electric Railway Car Repair Plant under a 162m rouble agreement signed with Gorelektrotrans in 2015 covering nine LM-68M trams. Only the bogies have been retained.

  • On March 21 the Mayor of Moscow approved the transfer of 10 Type 71-608KM trams to Tver, to avoid the need to fund a mid-life modernisation. They will augmenting eight Type 71-911 trams bought by Tver, and enable the reintroduction of services on parts of the network.
