Solaris had previously supplied Urbino 12 battery buses to Milano.

ITALY: Milano public transport operator ATM has signed a €61·5m framework contract with Solaris for the supply of up to 80 trolleybuses. An initial batch of 30 articulated Trollino 18 vehicles from the base order are due to be delivered in mid-2019.

Each vehicle will be fitted with two 160 kW traction motors and 45 kWh batteries that will allow up to 15 km of off-wire operation. Capacity will be 135 passengers, including 31 seated, and the trolleybuses will be equipped with air-conditioning and a passenger counting system.
