
USA: Alstom has delivered the first of 29 Innovia APM 300R vehicles to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The $87m project forms the supplier’s largest peoplemover replacement contract to date.
The new vehicles are intended to enhance reliability and support a short extension of the Plane Train route. It is the airport’s third order for Innovia vehicles, taking the total order to 63 cars.

Manufactured in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, the cars have a lightweight aluminium frame to provide greater energy efficiency and higher speeds than older vehicles, with a capacity of up to 900 passengers per train. They are to enter serves in 2026.

The 4·5 km eight-station underground Plane Train in the secure zone of the world’s busiest airport is operated and maintained by Alstom as successor to Bombardier Transporration.
The airport is also served by the separate 2·4 km elevated ATL SkyTrain which uses Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Crystal Mover technology.
