THE MUNICIPALITY of Osijek has selected Konkar KET of Zagreb as preferred bidder to build and equip a 2 km tramway extension serving the southwest of the town. The DM2·6m contract awarded on February 23 covers civil engineering works and installation of 750V DC overhead wiring, plus a 25 kV converter station. The extension along Vinkovacka Street is expected to be completed within three months.

Konkar KET is also part of a consortium selected to supply a fleet of 30 low-floor articulated cars for the Zagreb tram network. Other partners are Djuro Djakovic of Slavonski Brod and TZV Gredelj of Zagreb. A prototype of the twin-unit TMK 2000 is to be ready for test running in 2002, with the series fleet to be delivered by the end of 2004.
