HELSINKI City Transport announced on May 30 that it had selected Deutsche Waggonbau AG to negotiate final terms for supply of 12 metro trainsets, at a cost of FM240m including VAT. The trains are needed to provide extra capacity, and to cover services on a 4 km branch to Vuosaari which is due to open at the end of 1998 (DM97 p42). First deliveries are expected in June 2000, with completion by December 2001. Electrical equipment will be supplied by Holec, with the traction package derived from the latest batch of Rotterdam metro cars. o
