INFRASTRUCTURE is the theme of the Infrarail exhibition, which will take place at the G-Mex centre in Manchester on September 14-16.

The products and services to be shown at the sixth Infrarail event will cover all sectors of the infrastructure market, from track components and permanent way maintenance equipment to signalling and communications technology. More visible to passengers are the revenue collection and passenger information systems, while in the complex world of private-sector railways an increasing number of companies is providing for the specialist needs of human resources departments.

Although major rail development projects are likely to be limited to the Greater London area as preparations are made for the 2012 Olympic Games (p566), the British market continues to offer suppliers welcome business opportunities. In this context Infrarail aims to provide a forum where international manufacturers can present their capabilities and meet potential customers and business partners. A networking day for British suppliers to contact European buyers is being organised on September 15 by UK Trade & Investment.

Infrarail is held every two years; the last event in 2003 attracted 278 exhibitors and nearly 4400 visitors from 33 countries including Australia, India, Libya and the USA.
