ON DECEMBER 26 Spanish infrastructure authority ADIF announced the award of two contracts to undertake civil works between Legutiano and Escoriatza on the Vitoria branch of the high speed network connecting it with Bilbao and San Sebasti?n.A 5?km section is to be built by a joint venture of Comsa and Cycasa within 46 months for k65m. The second contract awarded to Ferrovial Agroman and Fonorte Empresa Constructora, worth k65?7m, covers 2?4?km and is due to be completed within 45 months. Within a budget of ?113?1m tenders have been called for the 5?6?km Escoriatza - Aramaio section, including 1?km on viaduct and 3?5?km in tunnel, and for the 3?4?km Aramaio - Mondrag?n section where work is to be completed within 30 months and a budget of k78?3m.As part of the programme that will eventually see the A Coru?a - Vigo route converted to high speed operation, the Ministry of Development has called tenders for the construction of new infrastructure on the 8?2?km Vilaboa - Pontevedra section within a budget of ?76?4m. This will make provision for electrification and conversion to 1 435?mm gauge. The Spanish cabinet has given its approval for tenders to be called for the 3?9?km Das Maceiras - Redondela section, where work is to completed within 36 months and a budget of k69?4m.n
