Germany: Bombardier Inc has concluded an agreement with investors advised by Advent International Corp for the purchase of DWA. Completion is subject to regulatory approval and audit of DWA’s accounts, expected to reveal revenue of DM1·1bn for 1997.

Great Britain: TCI Signalling, part of London-based Transportation Consultants International Ltd, has opened a regional office in York. Initial projects include resignalling of Railtrack’s Nuneaton - Peterborough route with contractor CSEE Transport (RG 12.97 p837).

Westinghouse Signals has merged with Signalling Control UK, the signalling design company it acquired from British Rail in 1995. Operating as Westinghouse Signals, the company has added a Main Line Systems Department to its existing Mass Transit and Infrastructure functions, and has project units in Birmingham, Chippenham, Croydon, Glasgow and York.

Prime Minister Tony Blair officially opened the Volante PTIS Ltd factory in Trimdon Grange, County Durham, on December 22. Volante produces laminate panelling for vehicle interiors.

USA: Westinghouse Air Brake Co has consolidated its Wabco brakes and couplings, Vapor door products and Stone air-conditioning subsidiaries into a new Passenger Transit Group.
