SWISS intermodal operator Hupac inaugurated a terminal at Singen on November 15, replacing its site at Rielasingen. The yard took 18 months to build, and is designed to cope with projected traffic growth for the next 10 years.

Described as a hub for southern Germany and a gateway for the transalpine corridors, Singen is designed to handle both 650m block trains and shorter shuttles. Hupac expects it to handle 18000 piggyback trailers and 10000 Rollende Landstrasse lorries in the first year.

  • Hupac announced in November that all its trans-alpine RoLa routes to and from Milano would be cleared for 3·8m high lorries with effect from November 25, following the completion of loading gauge enlargement work. o
