CAPTION: Amtrak West unveiled its newly redesigned and renovated Pacific Parlour car under dreary skies at Los Angeles Union Station on February 19. The first class lounges are assigned to the Coast Starlight, which connects Los Angeles with Seattle, and are open only to sleeping car passengers. The dome-like upper level features a full service bar set off in oak-coloured wood at one end of the car with at-table service in six adjacent booths. A snack buffet is provided in the wood paneled centre lounge area, where eight plush swivel chairs have been installed. A complementary wine tasting is held every afternoon. The lower level is equipped as a mini-theatre for viewing films. These cars are former Santa Fe Hi-Level lounges inherited when Amtrak was formed in 1971
