Chile: Under a contract worth €16m, EFE is acquiring reconditioned traction and rolling stock from Renfe of Spain for daytime Santiago - Temuco services. This includes four Class 269 electric locomotives, 23 coaches and four car-transporter wagons.

France:IER and Thales e-Transactions have been awarded a €20m contract to replace by late 2004 SNCF’s self-service ticket purchase and exchange machines. 1150 machines will be installed at shopping centres, universities and military bases as well as at 550 stations.

Germany:DB Projektbau GmbH has appointed Hyder Consulting subsidiary Acerplan as construction supervisor for Berlin’s €700m Lehrter station project.

Lithuania:Voestalpine is to supply LDZ with point components for an IPSA-funded upgrade of the main east-west route.

Netherlands:Alcatel has been awarded a €36m contract to install 6413 AlTrac ETCS Level 2 equipment, interlocking, axle counters and point machines on HSL-Zuid.

South Africa: SARCC has awarded Alstom a R37m contract to resignal the junction and yard approaches at Bellville by August 2004.

Spain:Under a contract worth €95m, CAF is building 21 three-car Class 598 tilting DMUs for Renfe’s Regional business unit. Based on the TRD design, they are due to enter service next year on the Madrid - Salamanca and A Coruña - Vigo routes.
