In addition to Pts19·31bn to be spent on Madrid’s infrastructure in 1997, mainly on metro extensions (RG 2.97 p76), the Catalan regional government has budgeted Pts22·7bn this year.
This covers completion of Barcelona’s Line 2, ATP for Line 5 and substation upgrading on Line 1. Another Pts4·2bn will go on rolling stock and the region will also fund electrification of FGC’s Martorell - Igualada line, with some doubling.
Pts15·7bn will be spent in Valencia, mainly on metro construction including the Alameda - Nuevo Cauce segment of Line 5 and extension of Line 4 to a university campus at Burjassot.
The Basque regional government’s Pts19·2bn budget for rail infrastructure in 1997 includes further funds for the Bilbao metro. o
