British inter-city operator Great North Eastern Railway is to hire out its first class lounges at major stations for use as city centre meeting rooms. GNER has also launched a range of Bistro meals, which will be served in its restaurant cars on off-peak trains.
Work has begun to modernise the 41 year old Kunming station in south west China. Subject to the 450m yuan investment required being forthcoming, the project will be completed in three years.
Polish State Railways is to reissue the tender for the redevelopment of Warszawa Centralny station. The previous tender was cancelled following worries that PKP and the city authorities would be left in a weak position as minority shareholders. Spokesman Roman Hadrowski said ’we will call for a tender in the near future after we have prepared new conditions.’
Under an agreement signed on April 19, German Railway subsidiary Transport Logistik Consulting and Galileo International will make available the RailMaster computer reservation system, developed to give travel agents access to DB’s timetable and pricing information, booking and printing tickets for travel throughout Germany and Europe. The graphical user interface offers all DB services, including sleepers, and motorail.
