Steve Marshall resigned as Railtrack Chief Executive on October 8, but he expects to work out his six-month period of notice.

French National Railways has named Mireille Faugère as Director-General of SNCF Participations alongside Armand Toubol. Formerly Deputy Director of the Grandes Lignes passenger business, she replaces Mathias Emmerich, who becomes Deputy Director, International, at Grandes Lignes, succeeding Cécile Queille who has become Deputy Director, Commercial & Marketing, Grandes Lignes.

Howard Smith has taken over as General Manager of London’s Docklands Light Railway with effect from October 1.

Connex Transport UK has reorganised its British rail franchise bid development team, headed by Geoff Harrison-Mee. Gary Cooper becomes Major Projects & Development Director. Bernard Pratt is Business Development Manager, Howard Read Service Development Manager and Steve White Rolling Stock Development Manager.

On October 9 Genesee & Wyoming Inc named Martin D Lacombe as Deputy CEO of Australian Railroad Group, based in Perth. Mario Brault becomes President & General Manager of Genesee Rail-One, operator of the Quebec Gatineau and Huron Central railways. Larry Phipps is named President & General Manager of Portland & Western Railroad. Carl Belke takes the new position of General Manager, Fleet, and Matthew Walsh is Manager, Finance & Acquisitions.

From October 1 Patrice Pinoli became head of Intercontainer-Interfrigo’s West Division on an acting basis, replacing Alan Bennett who has moved to become head of ICF joint venture Allied Continental Intermodal.

Also joining the PLK board are Deputy Director, Personnel, Andrzej Krawczyk, Deputy Director, Technical, Pawel Neumann, Deputy Director, Economics & Finance, Miroslaw Pawlowski, and Pawel Gruszczynski, who joins from outside PKP.
