Netherlands Railways opened a rebuilt station and transport interchange at ’s-Hertogenbosch on May 14. The five year project has cost 185m guilders, with nearly half of this going on improved railway infrastructure including grade separated junctions and extra tracks.

The station has been expanded with an extra island platform to cope with increased train frequencies, including six trains an hour to Utrecht, five to Eindhoven and four each way between Nijmegen and Tilburg, Breda and Roosendaal.

The platforms are linked by a 15m wide footbridge 117m long, giving access to a bus station and multi-storey car park. A sophisticated passenger information system displays details of bus departures on the station platforms, and train times at the bus station, to provide the best possible interchange information for passengers changing mode. o
