Line Bee

Passengers on a Den Haag - Scheveningen tram route this spring had a nasty surprise at one of the stops. A swarm of bees had gathered around the waiting shelter, and as each tram stopped the bees poured in through the open doors.

When operator HTM’s control staff realised what was happening they stopped trams from calling, and contacted an amateur beekeeper who was dispatched to the scene to remove the swarm. Normal services were disrupted for about an hour. But HTM is determined to be prepared next time - and has decided to keep a beehive in readiness.

Crash con
