STADLER has taken over the Weiden works of Partner für Fahrzeugausstattung GmbH following the signing of a preliminary agreement with the insolvent company’s creditors on December 30.

Work at the plant in northeast Bayern had ceased in mid-2004. Stadler is to invest €2m in the site, which will be used to carry out maintenance work and establish a presence in southern Germany. Stadler Weiden GmbH then plans to launch a €12m second phase of investment in mid-2006 - it hopes to employ up to 250 workers assembling regional and S-Bahn trains.
