Major expansion has been proposed for the Tokyo commuter network by 2015. Several completely new routes and links have been put forward in a Master Plan submitted to the Ministry of Transport in January (RG 3.00 p138). These include a new route from central Tokyo duplicating the Chuo line as far as Mitaka, an inner loop that may take some of the pressure off the Yamanote loop line, and new lines to Noda and Matsudo. A Yokohama loop line is also included.
