Canada: Ontario Northland has signed a C$8·7m contract to refurbish 24 coaches for Montréal’s AMT.
China: SKF has won a SKR20m order to supply China Railway Materials Commercial Corp with bearings for 160 km/h coaches.
Germany: Frankfurt operator VGF has ordered 10 more Type S low-floor trams from Bombardier; six are an option on a previous order.
DB Regio has awarded Alstom, CAF and Stadler framework agreements enabling it to place firm orders for regional EMUs when required.
On November 2 LNVG announced a €120m order for 28 Alstom Coradia Lint 54 DMUs which will be used on Dieselnetz Südost-Niedersachsen services from December 2014.
India: On October 20 BEML rolled out what it says are the first EMU and 100 tonne wagon to be built for IR with stainless steel bodies.
In co-operation with US firm NREC, IR’s Patiala workshop is to build two WDM2-based genset locomotives incorporating three Cummins QSK800 engines.
Central Railway’s Kurduvadi workshop is building two six-car rakes of modern coaches for the 610 mm gauge Matheran Hill Railway. They will offer reclining seats, mobile phone charging points and fans in first class.
Kazakhstan: EBRD is providing Kaztemirtrans with a loan to support the acquisition of 38 petroleum tank wagons.

Poland: On November 8 Arriva signed an order for four Pesa 218Mc (SA133) two-car DMUs to be delivered by the end of 2012 for use in Kujawsko-Pomorskie. The deal includes two years of maintenance.
Pesa has won a 15·9m złoty contract to supply a three-car Elf EMU to Warmisko-Mazurskie voivodship for regional services, and also a 12·8m złoty order to supply Koleje Mazowieckie with two single-car DMUs.
Tramwaje lkie has bought 15 Type E1 trams from Wiener Linien.
Under a 100m złoty contract signed on October 17, Newag is to supply Koleje Dolnoslskie with five four-car EMUs.
Russia: TMH’s Bryansk plant is testing a TEM18V shunter fitted with a Wärtsilä W6L20LA engine.
South Africa: Booyco Engineering is to supply Transnet Rail Engineering and Commuter Transport Engineering with traction motor cooling equipment for 10M EMU cars.
Spain: Vossloh España has begun testing a prototype 32 m Tramlink LRV at its Albuixech plant. Developed at a cost of €20m, the 70 km/h LRV is designed for surface and underground operations. FEVE has ordered four for planned tram-train services in León.
Sweden: On November 8 Alstom announced a €100m contract to supply a 20 Coradia Nordic X61 EMUs to Skånetrafiken in 2013-14, following an order for 49 in December 2006. vLKAB has awarded EuroMaint Rail a contract to maintain 14 tank wagons.
Tajikistan: On November 1 the KTZ Lokomotiv/GE joint venture signed a contract to supply six Kazakh-built locos to Tajik Railways.
UK: On November 14 ScotRail announced an €17·7m three-year extension of Bombardier’s contract to provide maintenance support for 177 Class 170 Turbostar DMU cars.
USA: Maryland Transit Administration has become the third operator to order Bombardier MultiLevel double-deck coaches, placing a $154m order for 54 cars to be delivered in 2013 by using an option transferred from NJ Transit.
The US Army has acquired three locos and 10 double-deck coaches from Virginia Railway Express which Combined Arms Support Command will use to replace road transport on a 100 km route between the Fort Lee base and training facilities.
Union Pacific is rolling out 300 AutoFlex car-carrying wagons. Designed and built in-house at De Soto, Missouri, they are convertible between two and three decks, and for security have no external access to the roof or upper decks.
