DART will also pay Trinity Metro $6m for access rights on the existing 3 km line between DFW North and Terminal B.

The 42 km Silver Line commuter route, previously known as Cotton Belt Regional Rail, will connect the airport, Grapevine, Coppell, Dallas, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson and Plano serving 10 station using a fleet of eight Stadler diesel multiple-units.

‘The Silver Line helps address strong demand by a growing number of residents and employees in the eastern portion of the region for a convenient and efficient connection to DFW Airport’, said DART Chairman Paul N Wageman on April 15. ‘We are pleased to finalise the agreement with Trinity Metro. It marks another important right of way segment that DART has secured and is critically needed to complete the construction of the Silver Line.’
