SLOVAKIA: National passenger operator ZSSK has ordered 20 three-car DMUs from ŽOS Vrútky for €77⋅9m. Due for delivery in 2014-15, they are to be deployed on regional services around Bratislava and Košice, including the Nitra - Leopoldov, Košice - Kechnec and Humenné - Kapušany - Prešov routes.

The new low-floor DMUs are expected to be very similar to the Class 861 supplied by ŽOS Vrútky in 2011-13. The order follows the contract for one Class 671 three-car double-deck EMU signed by ZSSK with Škoda Vagónka in May 2013, with all vehicles to be funded mainly through the 2007–13 EU Transport Operational Programme as a replacement for the Bratislava cross-city rail link project halted in autumn 2012.
