SAUDI ARABIA: The winners of two contracts to oversee design and construction of Riyadh's US$22·5bn six-line metro network were formally announced by Arriyadh Development Authority on August 27.

The Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants joint venture of Parsons, Egis and Systra has won a US$556m project management contract covering lines 1 and 2 which are to be designed and built by the BACS consortium, and Line 3 which is to be built by the ArRiyadh New Mobility consortium.

The Riyadh Advanced Metro Project Execution & Delivery joint venture of Louis Berger and Hill International won the US$264m contract covering lines 4, 5 and 6, which are to be designed and built by the FAST consortium.

'Today's announcement means that we now have the major partners in place to design, build and project manage the development of the Riyadh metro', said Ibrahim Bin Muhammad Al Sultan, President of ADA. 'These international firms have experience delivering some of the world's most iconic infrastructure projects and will work alongside Saudi Arabian expertise to oversee Riyadh's ambitious and world-class transport project'.
