RUSSIA: Škoda Transportation´s Vagonmash subsidiary delivered the first three of eight NeVa six-car trainsets to St Petersburg metro Line 3 on October 13. The remaining five sets are scheduled to follow in 2017.
The 3·8bn rouble order was signed in April 2015 following successful operation with the first series of nine NeVa trainsets which entered service in 2013.
Škoda is supplying the electrical equipment for vehicles, which have aluminium bodyshells making them lighter and more energy efficient than the older Mytishchi-built fleet. The interiors include audio-visual passenger information systems and CCTV.
