INDIA: HYT Engineering has won a contract to supply nine CNC underfloor wheel lathes to Indian Railways.
The lathes will be capable of simultaneously reprofiling both wheels of a locomotive, coach or wagon wheelset without needing to remove brake gear or other components.
The turnkey contract includes construction of foundations and buildings to house the lathes. There is a two-year warranty period, which will be followed by five years of maintenance.
