INTERNATIONAL: Hitachi Rail unveiled its BV700 next-generation validator at the Transport Ticketing Global exhibition in London, saying the design builds on on the proven performance of the 50 000 previous generation BV600 units which are now deployed in 10 countries.

The BV700 is designed for improved maintainability and reduced ecological footprint, and integrates within Hitachi Rail’s Transcity multimodal and multi-operator ticketing platform.

It offers 5 in display or a larger 7 in option, and intuitive passenger interactions through a touch interface and a ‘more contemporary, adaptable and sustainable’ design. It supports multiple fare media, including contactless cards, EMV, QR codes and emerging handsfree ticketing such as Ultra Wide Band and facial recognition

The modular design aims to reduce waste by supporting future upgrades without the need to replace entire devices.

‘With the BV700, we are bringing to market a validator that is not only more powerful and modular, but also more sustainable and easier to maintain’, said Yves Baumgartner, VP for Revenue Collection Systems at Hitachi Rail. ‘It reflects our ambition to support operators with solutions that evolve with their needs while improving the passenger experience.’
