CZECH REPUBLIC: Pesa has been awarded a 514m złoty firm order to supply Czech national operator ČD with 33 two-car diesel multiple-units in 2024-26 for use on regional services in the Hradec Králové region.

The order signed on December 17 is the second to be placed under a framework contract signed on February 26 which covers up to 160 units with a total value of 2·5bn złoty. It takes the firm orders to 66 units worth 1bn złoty..

‘We will use modern trains that meet all requirements for comfortable travel of the 21st century in the regions’, said ČD Chairman & Director General Ivan Bednárik. ‘We will keep the promise made in the agreements with the regional authorities.’

The 120 km/h DMUs from Pesa’s Link family, known as RegioShark in the Czech Republic, will be fitted with ETCS. They will have a ‘spacious’ interior with 115 seats in two classes, air- conditioning, wi-fi, charging sockets and an accessible toilet. There will be level boarding from modern platforms, gap bridges for wheelchair users and a telescopic step for use at lower platforms.
