HUNGARY: The government has given the go-ahead for MÁV-Start to exercise an option for Stadler to supply a further eight Kiss double-deck electric multiple-units.

The HF39bn order approved on August 13 is to be funded from EU sources.

It is to be placed under a framework agreement signed by the national passenger operator and Stadler in April 2017. This covered the supply of up to 40 of the 25 kV 50 Hz EMU EMUs, with a firm order for an initial 11 to enter service around Budapest from the second half of 2019.
