The styling by Milani Design is inspired by the operator’s car number 6 which dates from 1911 and is said to be the oldest electric rack-and-pinion railcar in the world.

The first of the six Bhe4/6 two-car low-floor EMUs is scheduled to be delivered in September, with commercial operation from spring 2022.

The 34·7 m long standard gauge units will have a capacity of 150 seated and 50 standing passengers. Four of the six axles will be powered by 400 kW motors, with a maximum speed of 20 km/h uphill and 17·5 km/h downhill.
