RUSSIA: Transmashholding’s Bryansk plant has produced a prototype TE26 six-axle single-section diesel locomotive designed for both freight and passenger operation.

The TE26 has a 2·85 MW 18-9DGM-02 diesel engine, and is claimed to have more than 90% domestically produced components.
It will be able to operate in multiple where required to replace multi-section locos hauling trains of up to 7 100 tonnes at speeds up to 100 km/h.
The prototype will undergo testing in Q3 2025, along with a second loco which will be produced to speed up the certification process.
