ARGENTINA: Buenos Aires metro authority Sbase has awarded Alstom a €60m contract to supply 10 six-car Metropolis trainsets for use on Line D.

The trains will be produced at Alstom’s Lapa plant in Brazil and are due to be delivered in 2017. Alstom will be responsible for maintenance during the trains’ first two years of operation.

Each trainset will have capacity for 1 500 passengers, with four doors per car. The trains will be equipped with passenger information screens, CCTV and air-conditioning.

Alstom started deliveries of 120 Metropolis cars for Line H in August 2015.
