GERMANY: Init is to modernise the ticketing system used on trams and buses in Bremen by the end of 2017.

The upgrade includes the replacement of mobile and stationary ticket vending machines and printers, as well as the installation of a boarding control system. These will be installed on around 120 trams and 210 buses operated by BSAG, at larger stops and in three customer centres.

More than 500 terminals are to be installed on trams and buses for the existing stored-value BOB smart card. This in turn will be replaced, ‘with a view to using contactless write/read technology’. Trams will also be equipped with new TVMs. Init’s MOBILEvario back-office software will be used to manage transactions.
