USA: Three short-listed consortia seeking a design-build contract for the first phase of the Los Angeles Gold Line Foothill Extension from Pasadena to Azusa have submitted their final proposals on schedule.

The Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority’s technical evaluation committees is now reviewing and assessing the submissions. Contract award is scheduled for July.

‘This is a significant milestone in our progress to complete the Foothill Extension by early 2015’, said the Authority’s Executive Director Habib Balian.

The three teams are Foothill Transit Constructors, a Kiewit/Parsons joint venture; Shimmick/URS/Stacy & Witbeck joint venture; and Skanska/Balfour Beatty.

The contract, valued at over $440m, covers final design and construction of the 18·3 km extension, including all stations, track, level crossings, and operation and maintenance facilities.
