The new line will provide interchange with the existing Taipei metro network.

TAIWAN: The New Taipei City Government Department of Rapid Transit Systems has signed a turnkey contract for the Sanying Line in New Taipei City.

The ARH consortium is led by Ansaldo STS and includes RSEA Engineering Corp and Hitachi. Ansaldo STS’s €219·8m share of the contract includes the supply of CBTC signalling, telecoms, power supplies, platform screen doors, automatic fare collection system, SCADA and depot equipment. Hitachi will supply 29 two-car trainsets.

The elevated 14·3 km route will link the southern Dingpu terminus of Taipei metro Line 5 with Yingge to the southeast of Taoyuan. There will be 12 stations and one depot. Construction is due to begin in the second half of 2016, with completion envisaged in 2023.
