BRAZIL: São Paulo metro operator CMSP has awarded a consortium of Bombardier, Temoinsa and Tejofran a €139m contract to modernise 26 six-car trainsets used on Line 1.

'This is a complete vehicle modernisation project that will extend the useful life of CMSP's rolling stock well beyond 30 years', said Laurent Troger, President, Bombardier Transportation, Services. It will include upgrades to door systems and bogies, and new interiors, windows, traction equipment, communications and air-conditioning.

Consortium leader Bombardier values its share of the contract at €87m. The work will be undertaken at Bombardier's plant in Hortolândia, with deliveries scheduled to begin in August 2010.
