SINGAPORE: Land Transport Authority has awarded a consortium of Kawasaki Heavy Industries and CSR Qingdao Sifang a S$281⋅5m contract to supply 22 six-car Type C151B metro trainsets for the North-South and East-West lines. Delivery is scheduled for 2015-16.

This is the third rolling stock contract to be awarded to these companies by LTA, following orders in 2009 and 2011. The Japanese partner will be responsible for bogies and electrical equipment, with the Chinese firm assembling the 23⋅5 m long aluminium bodyshells.

The consortium beat rival offers from CAF and Siemens/CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive.
