GABON: Windhoff has supplied five battery-powered TeleTrac RW100AEM shunters and a cable drum wagon to Comilog’s manganese mine at Moanda, where they move trains of up to 130 wagons.

The manufacturer said the project is ‘a strong showcase of customised heavy-duty rail logistics, proving that high performance, advanced technology and full adaptation to tropical operating conditions can go hand in hand’.
The trains of 100 tonne, 1 435 mm gauge wagons are moved at 5 km/h when empty or 0·5 km/h when loaded. Each shunter can run independently or with up to five in multiple. The 750 m cable on the wagon enables continuous battery recharging throughout operation.
The shunters are adapted for tropical conditions, with a double-walled roof for protection from intense sunlight, cabin climate control and a sealed machinery space.
