POLAND: Regional operator Koleje Dolnośląskie has exercised an option for Pesa Bydgoszcz to supply 10 more five-car Elf electric multiple-units.

The value of the option announced on July 15 is 440m złoty. KD and Pesa signed a contract in August 2024 for the supply of 10 Elf EMUs with an option for a further 10. Exercising the option will take the number of Elf units in the KD fleet to 45.

Deliveries of the 20 EMUs are due to start in April 2026.

‘In this term alone, we have signed contracts for the delivery of as many as 30 new trains, and we also have options to order another 20. And that’s not all — consultations are currently under way on the possibility of purchasing hydrogen or battery-powered rolling stock’, said Michał Rado, Deputy Marshal of the Dolnośląskie voivodship.

  • Opolskie voivodship had earlier awarded a contract to Pesa for the supply of five diesel multiple-units with an option for 10 more.
