SWEDEN: Stockholm region transport authority SL has awarded Stadler a firm order to supply 10 more custom-built 891 mm gauge X15p electric multiple-units for the 65 km Roslagsbanan network serving the capital’s northeastern suburbs.
The order placed on August 13 is worth SFr94m, with deliveries from Stadler’s Bussnang factory in Switzerland scheduled from 2027 for entry into service in 2028.
In 2027 SL awarded Stadler a SFr232m contract to supply an initial 22 X15p EMUs with options for 45. A firm order for four was subsequently confirmed in February 2022. The first of the trains entered service in October 2023.
The three-car 1·5 kV DC EMUs are 60 m long and 2 750 mm wide, with lightweight aluminium bodies and wide gangways. They have 162 seats, spaces for pushchairs and wheelchair users and a capacity of 300 passengers. Winterisation measures include enclosed traction equipment, double-wall inter-car gangways, high levels of insulation, floor heating and warm air curtains around the doors.
‘Our modern X15p trains from Stadler have increased comfort for our passengers and enabled better service. With this follow-up order, we are reaffirming our commitment to provide reliable, comfortable and sustainable public transport’, said Annika Bergström, SL’s Head of Development Projects for the Roslagsbanan.
