POLAND: A prototype of Modertrans’ Moderus Gamma tram entered passenger service in Poznań on May 15. It is initially running on routes 12 and 16.

Modertrans signed a contract earlier this year with its parent company, city transport operator MPK Poznań, to supply 30 unidirectional and 20 bidirectional trams. The order is the first for Modertrans’ 100% low-floor Gamma tram; the prototype was first unveiled last November.

The five-section prototype is 32 m long with capacity for 244 passengers. There are 66 seats including three tip-up seats, and the tram is equipped with air-conditioning, USB chargers and a passenger-to-driver intercom. It is fitted with capacitors that store regenerated braking energy.
