RUSSIA: The first TMH Metrovagonmash Moskva-2026 metro trainset has entered passenger service on Line 2 of the capital’s network.
The trainset was developed and manufactured using domestically produced components, the metro operator says.
Moskva Metro said the latest generation of trainset retains the Moskva-2024 fleet’s powerful air conditioning systems, inter-car gangways and adaptive lighting, while the capacity has been increased by 10% and door width by 32%. There is more glazing in the entrance areas, upgraded rear-view cameras and an improved passenger-to-driver communication system. The seats are now seamless, without metal joints, and the air-conditioning system includes additional ceiling-mounted air ducts. The headlights automatically decrease their light intensity when entering a station.
More than 700 metro cars are planned to be delivered over the next two years to allow the complete the renewal of the Line 2 fleet.
‘The Moskva-2026 represents a significant step forward in the development of Russia’s domestic rolling stock industry’, the operator said on December 16. ‘This train can rightfully be considered one of the most advanced and comfortable metro cars in the world.’
