CHINA: Hong Kong transport operator MTR Corp has formed a Joint Community Response Unit to liaise with the local community and relevant government departments to plan its response to any future emergencies on the Tseung Kwan O Line.
The JCRU’s first tabletop exercise on August 21 simulated a scenario in which the Tseung Kwan O Line was suspended because of a disruption to the power supply.
MTR Corp, Sai Kung District Office, Care Teams, Hong Kong Police and the Transport Department looked at the dissemination of information to passengers, organising queuing for buses, co-ordinating road traffic and community-based support including teams to assist affected passengers and residents.
A large-scale on-site drill is planned for the future.
