CROATIA: A 1·6 km western extension of Osijek’s metre-gauge tram Route 1 opened on November 30.

The extension runs along ul Bana Jelačića from the previous Route 1 terminus at the western bypass road into the centre of the suburb of Višnjevac. There are five stops.

The construction cost of 57m kuna was financed by the city and Osijek county. The main contractor was Gradnja, with Rencon providing designs.

The east-west Line 1 now runs from Višnjevac to Zeleno Polje, with an end-to-end journey time of 40 min.
