Global Centre of Rail Excellence news

Established with support from the Welsh government in 2021, the GCRE is to provide purpose-built rolling stock and infrastructure testing facilities including two electrified testing loops at the former Nant Helen opencast mine and adjacent Onllywn coal washery, 25 km northeast of Swansea. The first phase of development is due to be completed by mid-2025.
